ROME

Day two of my cruise was Rome. Rome has definitely got to be up there with one of my favourite Cities now! I absolutely loved looking around all of the famous landmarks and popular places to go! Once again we got a taxi which we shared with some people from our cruise (this was also a lovely way to meet new people!). We had seven stops to make in our one day in Rome starting with the Vatican. The Vatican was beautiful from the outside and I really appreciated the architecture of the buildings however we didn't get the chance to look inside as there was a talk going on at the time.

The second place we visited was a small square which was perfect to have lunch at. This square also had a lot of small, beautiful fountains which I had to capture!

The Pantheon was the third place we visited on our trip to Rome, this Roman temple was apparently a place where the 'common people' in the city went to go to pray to the gods. This circular building below had an almost dome shaped top with a large circular hole in the roof which lets the rain water and sunlight in. The whole structure of the building makes you feel so tiny which was apparently done on purpose to make you feel inferior compared to the gods (it certainly worked!). Inside the building is beautiful with the decorated walls and architecture (also shown down below).

The next place was also really beautiful to look at, it was actually a gift for the king at the time and it had a LOT of steps!

The next place we visited was the 'Spanish steps'. This is used a lot of the time for fashion catwalk shows so I was particularly excited to see it, however when we got there, there was a lot of construction work going on and it really wasn't as impressive as I had hoped, however I was quickly pleasantly surprised by all of the amazing high end shops near by which I had to get some photographs of!

The Trevi fountain was the next stop and this was the one I was the MOST excited for! After seeing images from the Fendi show taken place here I felt as if it was a MUST to visit it! I was definitely not disappointed with the stunning fountain! It was even more impressive in real life. It was placed in such a bizarre place in the middle of some small shopping streets, we followed the noise of the water to find it!

The final place we visited was the Colosseum. This building was so impressive and absolutely huge! I am so amazed as to how they actually managed to build it! Instead of going inside we decided to walk all the way around it (this was slightly exhausting in the heat!) and then stopped off for a quick drink with this as our view. This was probably the most impressive thing I saw all day, if you are ever in Rome it is a MUST! Pictures and photographs really don't do this amazing building any justice.

Overall I really loved my day in Rome, the only bad thing was how little time we had at each place but I am so happy I got to fit it all in! This was definitely one of my favourite days from the cruise and one of the most memorable! After our day trip in Rome we had an hour at the gym and saw a show at the theatre on the ship after dinner, it couldn't get much better than that!

Thankyou for reading,
