ROME

Day two of my cruise was Rome. Rome has definitely got to be up there with one of my favourite Cities now! I absolutely loved looking around all of the famous landmarks and popular places to go! Once again we got a taxi which we shared with some people from our cruise (this was also a lovely way to meet new people!). We had seven stops to make in our one day in Rome starting with the Vatican. The Vatican was beautiful from the outside and I really appreciated the architecture of the buildings however we didn't get the chance to look inside as there was a talk going on at the time.

The second place we visited was a small square which was perfect to have lunch at. This square also had a lot of small, beautiful fountains which I had to capture!

The Pantheon was the third place we visited on our trip to Rome, this Roman temple was apparently a place where the 'common people' in the city went to go to pray to the gods. This circular building below had an almost dome shaped top with a large circular hole in the roof which lets the rain water and sunlight in. The whole structure of the building makes you feel so tiny which was apparently done on purpose to make you feel inferior compared to the gods (it certainly worked!). Inside the building is beautiful with the decorated walls and architecture (also shown down below).

The next place was also really beautiful to look at, it was actually a gift for the king at the time and it had a LOT of steps!

The next place we visited was the 'Spanish steps'. This is used a lot of the time for fashion catwalk shows so I was particularly excited to see it, however when we got there, there was a lot of construction work going on and it really wasn't as impressive as I had hoped, however I was quickly pleasantly surprised by all of the amazing high end shops near by which I had to get some photographs of!

The Trevi fountain was the next stop and this was the one I was the MOST excited for! After seeing images from the Fendi show taken place here I felt as if it was a MUST to visit it! I was definitely not disappointed with the stunning fountain! It was even more impressive in real life. It was placed in such a bizarre place in the middle of some small shopping streets, we followed the noise of the water to find it!

The final place we visited was the Colosseum. This building was so impressive and absolutely huge! I am so amazed as to how they actually managed to build it! Instead of going inside we decided to walk all the way around it (this was slightly exhausting in the heat!) and then stopped off for a quick drink with this as our view. This was probably the most impressive thing I saw all day, if you are ever in Rome it is a MUST! Pictures and photographs really don't do this amazing building any justice.

Overall I really loved my day in Rome, the only bad thing was how little time we had at each place but I am so happy I got to fit it all in! This was definitely one of my favourite days from the cruise and one of the most memorable! After our day trip in Rome we had an hour at the gym and saw a show at the theatre on the ship after dinner, it couldn't get much better than that!

POMPEII AND SORRENTO

Welcome back everyone!
A few weeks ago, I went on a week long cruise stopping off in different places around Spain, Italy and France which was amazing! I wanted to share with you what I got up to in my week away. The first place we visited was the Ancient city of Pompeii which was almost completely wiped out in 79 A.D. during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. I have wanted to visit it ever since learning about it at school! It really did live up to my expectations with the amazing streets and buildings. Their buildings were so advanced for their time, god knows how they built them! We had an amazing tour guide called Marco who knew so many facts about Pompeii, he was an excavator a few years ago and actually dug out one of the smaller houses in the city!

An Amphitheatre

This was a shop at the time, probably a bakery because of the oven shape in the back.
This is an original counter from a shop, the holes were probably filled with soup as this was a popular dish at the time.

This is a small altar  in the corner of the room which people prayed to the gods on.
I really liked the cracked painted walls in the rooms.

The patterns and paintings were still so beautiful.
This was a room in a brothel.
This was our tour guide Marco pointing at the 'menus' in the brothel.
There were many rooms filled with the things that were discovered in the buildings still. This image also shows a real casting of a man attempting to cover his nose from the smoke and gasses that would have filled the city, I found this quite sad but very interesting at the same time.

We also visited Sorrento later that day thanks to our taxi driver who was so lovely and helpful all day! I was particularly excited about visiting Sorrento because I know the Saccone Jolys regularly go on holiday there! However we didn't have much time to look around and appreciate it as much as I would have liked to. I took some stunning photographs of our surroundings which I wanted to share with you all.
The views were absolutely stunning, we spend our time there appreciating our surroundings.

I hope you enjoyed my images for day one, there will be many more posts to follow from the rest of the cruise!

BILL CUNNINGHAM

Bill Cunningham was an American fashion photographer who worked for The New York times. He began his amazing career by taking many candid photographs on the streets of New York city capturing not just the outfits the people wore but the world around them as well. I love how he attended and photographed all of the exclusive fashion shows but also captured raw, natural images on the streets of everyday people going about their daily lives. It was like a fashion show on the streets, the streets spoke to him. He wasn't interested in the person he was photographing, he only cared about the garments and details. This is so different from all of the other photographers around who almost mocked Bill for not taking photos of the celebrities and selling them off for money.

When photographing at fashion shows, he sat on the sides to capture the details and movement in the clothing, this also differs so much to the other photographers there who all stand in front ready to capture a perfect full body photograph showing the whole outfit. Bills unique look on fashion and photography is what made him so great.

On the film we watched, we saw his home filled with filing cabinets filled with all of his beloved photographs, he kept every single negative of every single one. Street style and fashion photography was his life, he literally lived and breathed it and he did what he wanted 'If you don't take money, they can't tell you what to do'. You could tell he absolutely loved what he did 'It's not work, It's pleasure', after watching the film and researching more into him I don't think he stopped smiling once, even when he didn't get the best response from people he photographed, he just laughed it off and carried on.

He was definitely an easy one to spot, riding around on his bike in his bright blue blazer, he had his own unique style, simple and basic yet so down to earth.

In the documentary I watched, Anna Wintour said 'we all get dressed for Bill', to me this just showed his importance in the fashion industry, he is so well respected and admired. As he was told to queue outside along with the paparazzi at a fashion show I also noticed a man say 'please, he's the most important on earth'.

MAKEUP REVIEW: URBAN DECAY MOONDUST PALETTE

The Urban decay moondust palette has recently been brought out and I instantly fell in LOVE with it. I am a big fan of the moondust eyeshadows they already have so I knew I would love this. The shades are a lot brighter than what I would normally wear but because they are so shimmery and sparkly I find them very easy to blend and mix in with different shades. This palette is perfect to create bold eyes and making an impact on a night out. The lighter shades in the palette are also perfect for a simple wash over the eye or to just brighten up your face a little. I have shown the pallete with its beautiful packaging and swatches down below.

From left to right and top to bottom: specter, element, magnetic, lightyear, granite, lithium, vega, galaxy.

These photographs really don't do this palette any justice or show how amazingly sparkly and pigmented the shades are. I cannot wait to create so many different looks with these unique eyeshadows.

ZOELLA LIFESTYLE

I have been a big fan of Zoe Sugg for a LONG time! I began following her blog many years ago, wayy before she created her YouTube channel after googling 'how to style my hair in a middle parting' (cringe). Ever since that, I became obsessed with her and her style. In recent years I have kind of drifted away from her channel and blog as theyre are so many other amazing bloggers and youtubers who I also follow. I felt as if she focused her YouTube channel on more fun and younger videos as opposed to her fashion and beauty videos which I loved watching.

Zoe has done soo well for herself by bringing out her own books and an amazing beauty range (I dont know how she has the time!). However, I also thought they were also slightly younger for me to purchase myself (I will admit to reading 'Girl Online' though haha).

#ZoellaApartment

I was SO excited to see that Zoe has brought out her own home/lifestyle range and after seeing all of the pictures released on twitter, I am so excited to get my hands on some of them! I love how they definitely still have aspects of Zoe's fun personality in them but they are more mature and grown up if you know what I mean? If you follow Zoe on any of her social media accounts you will know that she is a massive fan of home wear and is always buying new things to decorate her lovely home with so it was no surprise to me when she brought out her own range- it was only a matter of time!

My favourite things from the collections are definitely the room diffusers and stationary. I am in the process of getting all of my stuff ready to move to University so I cannot wait to get my hands on some of the things to put in my new room!

She has even brought a Christmas collection out which makes me feel so festive already! I hope you are as excited as me for the Zoella Lifestyle collection, Tell me what your favourite things are in the comments down below.

DECORATING CARDBOARD LETTERS

Welcome back!
Sorry for the lack of blog posts recently!- I've had a really busy but great summer, however I am back and have lots to share with you all! I will be starting university in under a month and I am SO excited to start doing work again and to show you all what I get up to. For anyone who is interested- I will be studying Fashion Communication and Promotion and I couldn't be more ready!

I am always doing little crafty projects on the go.. I've just always got to have something arty to do! So I thought I would share with you all something I have created recently. I have been seeing a lot of decorative letters around that people either have in their rooms for their initials or have lots of letters to spell something out and I love them but just haven't found the right one yet! I was recently in hobbycraft buying some supplies for my pre-arrival task for university (blog post on that soon!) and I spotted some large cardboard letters all decorated differently with different printed tissue papers. I decided to pick some letters and tissue papers up and create some of my own for me and my friends for our rooms when we go to uni (we will need something to cheer up our tiny boring rooms!).

I decided to go for a collage/patchwork effect and use all of the prints on the letters instead of going for the same pattern all over. I tried to pick the patterns with loads of different colours on so the letters would be bright and fun. All I needed was some PVA glue to stick these on with and to smooth over them for a glossy finish. I believe this technique I used was similar to decoupaging.

I hope you like the finished look! I was really happy with how they turned out and would definitely consider doing this again! Let me know if you have ever created anything similar. Also, if anyone has any advice on a good quality and easy to use camera that would be great because my i phone quality is not the best haha!
