On Wednesday we had our garment tour which was arranged with the uni. We were taken around by Imani Alexander who has her own fashion line. I enjoyed doing little tasks in groups and being taken to different hidden places we wouldn't have known about. I found it all really interesting, particularly when we met the wanderlust girls as they spoke about their blog and opportunities they have had within the fashion industry, they were really normal, down to earth girls who gave us plenty of tips and answered a LOT of questions from us all!
On the garment tour we also visited a magazine shop which stocked publications from around the world, there was a lot to look at! We also visited custom fabric flowers and a building filled with different designers sample sales which were both very interesting. I particularly enjoyed learning how they made the individual flowers and what they were used for.
After our garment tour we had lots of time left in the day to explore. Seeming as we were close to Chelsea market we decided to walk around there for a little bit. It was a mixture of shops and little restaurants/cafes and there was a lot to choose from! We visited a few shops and decided to have a bit to eat at a small pizza Italian place (it didn't disappoint!). Chelsea market was very pretty and quirky, if i had more time i would have loved to walk around there a little bit more but we were on a tight schedule!
After Chelsea market we decided to go and see the latest exhibition at the FIT. Black fashion designers is on there until 16th May so if you get the chance to pop to New York i'd recommend going there! I want to do a separate in-depth blog post on this exhibition as I found some really good garments that relate well to my tough 90's trend for my summative brief.
Later on in the day before going to sleep we wanted to quickly fit one more thing into our day. Grand central station was supposed to be a beautiful building and is obviously quite famous! (gossip girl fans will know). The station had a really calming, warm effect and was a lovely place to just stand and people watch! The architecture and ceiling itself was just beautiful to look at, by far the nicest train station I have and will ever see!
Day four will be up soon!
Thankyou for reading,
Love from Georgia
